7. Project objectives:

Overall objective
The overall objective of the project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through conversion of Incandescent Lamps (ILs) use into Energy Saving Lamps in Viet Nam.
Specific objectives
- Strengthening lighting industry capacity in Viet Nam through technical aid on conversion of ILs production lines to ESLs to reduce GHG emissions and environmental protection.
- Strengthening and harmonizing quality standards on energy saving lamps (ESLs) to comply with international standards; Improving QA/QC capacity.
- Educating and raising awareness of consumers to promote conversion of ESLs market.
- Strengthening policy and institutional framework to support, encouraging and monitor ESLs production, sales and use in the domestic market, comply with the environmental regulations.
