Research scientific basis of the economic valuation of wetlands ecosystems and pilot calculating the economic value of conservation wetlands of Van Long, Ninh Binh Province

Objectives of Research: Overall Objective: Research scientific basis for assessing the economic value of wetland, and the combined use of GIS tools and computational models to test Invest economic value of wetland conservation area Van Long, Ninh Binh.Specific Objectives:- Research on environmental services of wetlands, the mechanisms of payment for environmental services in general as well as that for wetlands.- Research scientific basis for evaluating the economic value of wetland ecosystems.- Propose payment schemes for environmental services in line with Vietnam's conditions for conservation and sustainable development of wetlands.2. Subjects and Scope of Research:- Subject of Research: Methodology for valuation of natural ecosystems - Scopet of Research: Wetland conservation area in Van Long, Ninh Binh 3. Methodology: - Literature review: published results of the programs, projects, and experiences related to the subject - Method of analysis: survey for fact findings- Expert interview and consultation workshop.4. Contents:- Study scientific basis of economic valuation of wetland ecosystems, identify methods and tools that can be applied to valuate the wetland ecosystem in Vietnam.- Integrated research using GIS modeling tools and Invest software for economic valuation of ecosystem wetland. Develop method of economic valuation of wetland using these tools.- Field surveys to collect data for pilot valuation of the economic value of wetland conservation area Van Long, Ninh Binh Province- Recommend measures to manage wetland resources based on the results of the assessment of economic values of Vanlong wetland. 5.
