ISPONRE hosts third 3RINCs to tackle waste issues

Hanoi, March 11, 2016- Despite rapid economic growth, many developing countries among Asia-Pacific region, especially Vietnam, are lagging behind when it comes to waste management. The amounts of waste being generated are increasing and poorly managed, which threaten the health of people living near the hazardous sites. Therefore, inititatives on promoting actions of reducing and recycling of waste is of great importance for most countries. Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment (ISPONRE), Vietnam Environment Administration (VEA), Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), in partnership with Japan Society (JSMCWM), United Nations (UNCRD) and Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) held their third 3RINCs at Melia Hotel, Hanoi, Vietnam. The conference took place from 9 to 11 March 2016, with participation from approximately 500 local and international delegates.

International Scientific Conference on Material Cycles and Waste Management (3RINCs) is an annual scientific conference organized with the aim of learning and sharing information among experts, managers and businesses around the world that would assist in policy-making process in the field of 3R. 

‘’The Rio+20 held in Brazil in 2012, along with the COP21 taking place in Paris, marked the importance of green growth and green economy concepts. 3Rs can be an useful tool because it directs towards the achievement of environmental sustainability through Reduce, Reuse and Recycling of waste. At the same time, 3Rs helps to create jobs and reduce poverty’’, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Vo Tuan Nhuan said.

Delegates from different countries

In this year, the conference covers a wide variety of topics, ranging from 3R challenges, waste and recycling resource statistics and data collection and processing, biomass waste utilization to e-waste recycling and management, etc. Besides that, this is a great opportunity for companies to present and showcase their innovative products at the conference.
