Seminar on Basel Convention on the control of transboundary movements of wastes and their disposal

Hanoi, March 24, 2016- Dr. Nguyen Trung Thang – Deputy Director of ISPONRE hosted a seminar on Basel Convention on the control of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and their disposal, with Dr. Jeon Tae Bong’s participation as a main speaker. Jeon is a Korean consultant specialist from NIPA and has been working at ISPONRE to support policy making and environmental management processes.

The seminar is a great opportunity to give attendees a brief introduction to Basel Convention and how this treaty has impact on the prevention of waste transfer between countries that signed.

Basel Convention on transboundary wastes was adopted on 22 March 1989 and became effective on 5 May 1992. The Convention comprises a total of 29 Articles and 9 Appendices and currently has 183 parties.
